Out of all entries, 71 artworks were shortlisted for inclusion in the show. The competition attracted entries from many countries across the world: USA, Canada, Italy, Greece, Australia, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Armenia, Isreal, Japan and India. Enjoy the show and thank you for expressing an interest in our competition.

Greta Schnall - White City

First of all, the viewer should have a so-called "aha experience". After looking at them for a while, it should become clear to him that these are actually real buildings. The combination of the elements architecture, cubism and surrealism should give the artwork absolute originality in its creation, style and individual expression. Above all, this combination should make the viewer realize that even the simplest buildings can be designed in an exciting way in the mind with enough imagination, so this is therefore also possible in most other areas of life and can often even be implemented in the reality. So I would like to show how the simple, often depressing architecture on photos can be changed imaginatively and excitingly with extreme image processing. In this way you can go from the purely functional to the imaginative motif, which you can be inspired by in a variety of ways.

Nuri Jeong - Harmony

sculpture - 32 x 13 x 72 cm

This piece started with the question, “What is a beautiful line?”. What we consider beautiful can vary from person to person. Some people find soft, flowing curves to be beautiful, while others find sharp, strong straight lines to be beautiful. With such varying standards of beauty, I wanted to delve deeper into what a 'beautiful line' is. This piece focuses on the interpretive sculptural beauty of lines and shapes, emphasizing two free-form curves that contrast with each other, change over time, and connect with other lines. The meeting of these shifting curves symbolizes the viewer's journey to find their own beautiful lines through their own eyes. In my ceramic work, I value the aesthetics of line as revealed in silhouette. I experience the process of finding the perfect line by building up the pottery from the bottom up, creating forms, playing with proportion and line movement, and cutting and chiseling the clay. This process is a journey of discovery in search of beautiful lines. When curves of different qualities meet, harmony and tension are created between them. Moments of softness and sharpness, flexibility and rigidity reveal the essence of aesthetic beauty and invite us to further explore the concept of 'beautiful lines'. Just as the contrasting curves change and connect depending on your point of view, we invite you to find your own beautiful lines. Through this work, we hope viewers will discover their own 'beautiful lines' and have a new visual experience in the process.

Lorna Hannett - Eggs on a Tablecloth

scratchboard - 8'' x 10''

“I have always had a fascination for the beauty of nature and its many moods and elements. Living in a rural setting, I am surrounded and inspired every day, in all seasons. I also love to study people, adults and children alike, and try to capture each individual’s expressive nature in the portraits I do. I feel privileged to be able to express my love of nature and people through my art work and hope in some small measure that it will bring a certain amount of pleasure to those who view it.” Lorna is one of the Founders of and for 5 years served as President of the International Society of Scratchboard Artists (ISSA) and is a Master Scratchboard Artist. (MSA) Lorna is self-taught but has taken a number of workshops to further her artistic abilities. Although she enjoys many mediums, she now works primarily with her favorite, scratchboard. After teaching herself to use this medium, Lorna has experimented and pushed boundaries with it. In doing so, she has garnered recognition and won many awards both nationally and internationally and had her work featured in several magazines, including the International Artists Magazine. Her work is in corporate and private collections around the world. She lives and works in her home studio in Blackfalds Alberta Canada.

Cher Pruys - Little Rascal

acrylic - 8'' x 8''

Cher Pruys, ASAA SCA, IGOR, AAPL, CSAA, AMS, LMS, OSA, MAA, CFA, NOAPS, PSOA, AWA., AAOA. I am a self taught artists working in water based medium, mainly acrylic, but also at times gouache and water-colour. I am a hyperrealism painter fascinated by the world around me. I am very drawn to shiny surfaces as well as transparent objects, especially when the lighting brings them to life. I look for beauty in everyday objects that most people take for granted or just don’t truly see them as they are. The seemingly boring and mundane subjects can truly be like magnets if portrayed in the right light. Shiny metal is one of those materials that can host endless visions….the light hits it and the reflections are captured on the smooth, sleek surface…people and animals especially the eyes...an artists dream! My future art plans are to paint the countless subjects I have chosen to become paintings and to share my art with as many people as I can. "To take my inner visions with my hands and create a work of art for you the viewer .... That is the ultimate in self expression."
