Grey Cube Gallery proudly presents the fourth Colors online art show for the month of May 2023. The show encompassed a range of artistic styles and mediums (oil on canvas, acrylic, watercolor, ink, ceramics, photography, collage, digital). Each submission has been judged based on the following elements of artistic expression: orginality and quality of art, overall design, creativity, interpretation of the theme, demonstration of artistic ability and usage of medium. The competition attracted entries from many countries across the world: USA, Australia, South Korea, Mexico, Tiawan, Austria, Goergia, Germany, Venezuela, Canada, Spain, Hong Kong and Poland. BEST OF SHOW

Linda McCord - On the Mend

watercolor - 15'' x 20''

"In the 90's" is a series of watercolors about my mother's life after she turned 90 years old. I wanted to show there is quality of life at that age. I have attempted to show glimpses of the things she enjoyed doing as well as some somber moments She liked drinking her coffee and tea out of China cups, reading, sewing, cooking, knitting, quilting, and she loved the funny pages.

Fischer Chuck - Spectrum Composition No.1

mixed media - 24″ x 60″ x 6″

My geometric abstract constructions break the plane of two-dimensional painting and are composed of colored, textured, and multi-layered elements made from common materials such as wood, copper, and aluminum. I create their visual complexity by varying the depth, color, and texture of each piece to draw the viewer into the work. I never sketch before I start a new piece but trust my intuition and the materials at hand to guide me as I create works of spatial balance and harmony.

SECOND PLACE

Steve Stratis - Hued Slosh

digital art

Many of the world’s marvels go unseen, whether due to the flow of time or being beyond our perception. Steve Stratis’ work centers around bypassing these limitations - giving the viewer a glimpse of how matter frozen in time and invisible phenomena may appear. Stratis fuses digital techniques such as 3D sculpting and VFX (visual effects) to apply a stylistic spin, resulting in a unique abstract-centric aesthetic. Steve aims to inspire a greater interest in physics and further appreciation for the many powers that shape our world.
