BOTANICALS ART SHOW

Grey Cube Gallery proudly presents the fourth Botanicals online art show for the month of June 2023. The show encompassed a range of artistic styles and mediums (oil on canvas, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, charcoal, etching, colored pencil, photography, digital art, woodcut, aluminum wire). Each submission has been judged based on the following elements of artistic expression: orginality and quality of art, overall design, creativity, interpretation of the theme, demonstration of artistic ability and usage of medium. Out of all entries, 116 artworks were shortlisted for inclusion in the show. The competition attracted entries from many countries across the world: USA, Taiwan, China, Australia, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, UK and Italy. Enjoy the show and thank you for expressing an interest in our competition.

BEST OF SHOW

Patrice Procopio - Columbine

oil - 18'' x 24''

Patrice has spent the greater portion of her life in the pursuit of garden flowers and wildflowers across the state of Wisconsin. Tending and observation of the earth has always been an integral part of her life, which began on a farm in western Iowa. Nature is where her peace, solitude, and inspiration begin. In the summer she photographs flowers from across the state of Wisconsin. In the winter she paints in her 3rd Ward studio. In the summer she paints in her Door County studio. Art is something that Patrice always remembers creating. She pursued this love by studying painting, art history and painting at Drake University. Her graduate degree was completed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She teaches adults and children.

Kory Johnson - Well

sculpture - 36″ x 36″ x 2″

The work explores the transient qualities of lichen, bark and moss within the forest. The decay of these organisms in nature is essential for life to flourish, but is a constant reminder of the very nature of mortality. These organic materials decompose back to soil so that other organisms can begin again, continuing the cycle of life.

Fabio Tasso - P0BOT70T60T20Y15VXD

resin and pigments - 15'' x 7'' x 20''

The artist is inspired by the prehistoric sculptures that, often remaining incomprehensible to us due to the cultural and temporal distance, appear as perfect shapes, made with the material, technology and sensibility of the time. Who was the prehistoric sculptor is not important. This is what the artist tries to do: anonymous but universal sculptures, made with the materials of today, that study space, shape and the relationship that our body has with them. For this reason, his artworks have no titles, but only codes with all the information hidden inside. Without him, the only holder of the key to read them, to codify them, it will be necessary to research and hypothesize, as in an archeological process.
