The show encompassed a range of artistic styles and mediums (oil on canvas, acrylic, watercolor, graphite, pastel, charcoal, photography, digital, spray paint, wax, fabric on board, copper and steel). Each submission has been judged based on the following elements of artistic expression: orginality and quality of art, overall design, creativity, interpretation of the theme, demonstration of artistic ability and usage of medium. Out of all entries, 126 artworks were shortlisted for inclusion in the show. The competition attracted entries from many countries across the world: France, USA, Hungary, Ukraine, Germany, Russia, China, United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan, Canada, Portugal, Spain, Mexico, Italy, Switzerland, Andorra and Australia. Enjoy the show and thank you for expressing an interest in our competition.

Ingrid Matthews - Exploration

acrylic on canvas - 24'' x 24''

I am fascinated by the energetic atmosphere, and by the way we move through its kaleidoscopic flow. My work is inspired by the natural world, by which I especially mean shifting light and color; geometry, or the application of the human mind; and to a great degree, music. I love the pure abstraction of rhythm, line, and the layering that is harmony, and especially the way differing frequencies of sound, like those of light, can describe our felt experience with such richness and precision. The mood or affect of a piece is of great importance to me. Increasingly, I find that my work is also philosophical in nature, exploring existential questions. Small concentrations of color may suggest individual consciousness within an energetic landscape, and/or they may hint at doorways and portals that can open up new psychic space, a realm beyond.

Attila Mata - White and Metal II

stainless steel wire - 40,5 x 20,5'' x 23,5''

I am a Hungarian sculptor currently residing in Hungary. I graduated from Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 1983. I create sculptures because it is the Viewer who really matters to me. My goal is to catch his/her attention and to inspire thought. I would like to invite him/her to take part in the creation of the artwork using his/her imagination. I enjoy experimenting with forms, colors and all kinds of materials. I am interested in ancient themes e.g. sex(uality), death, gods, love etc. In my artwork the human body is reduced to geometric forms and reorganized as geometric structures. I am also attracted to the extreme. I find some modern themes exciting, too: outer and inner surface of the form, how to use color - paint - on sculpture, the visual effect of different materials on form, combining two kinds of materials on the same artwork. I sculpt in various mediums including wood, bronze, aluminum, stainless steel, acrystal and I use them in their natural and painted versions. My sculptures can be found in a lot of public and private collections, and they have been exhibited in numerous one man and group shows around the world e.g. Germany, US.

Jeff Pullen - Walking In A Free World

oil-paint, wax on canvas - 66'' x 46''

Influences and inspiration for artists can come from any and everywhere. As they work over the years these influences become reflected in their expressions, sometimes subliminally, other times purposefully. If an artist works long enough he may be fortunate as I was to see his artwork come full circle. My early paintings were heavily influenced by the teachings of Abstract Expressionism. I painted from within, responding to surface manipulation with the use of collage elements such as burnt fabric, aquarium stones, straw and sea shells. Over the years the imagery became less abstract and surfaces more constructed, painting my imagery onto surfaces of wood, brick, plexi-glass, and louver doors as my works became a pictorial/sculptural continuum addressing the shifting of the picture plane, which I stayed with for many years. In that process while rendering small areas of reflections, faded walls and advertisements, torn billboards and various light and dark areas I began to see these segments could possibly stand on their own as an expression which led to my current series of abstract work on canvas beginning in 2017.

Jean Claude Bise - Sphere 01

digital - 45'' x 30''

Abstract photography is a way of representing an image that has no immediate association with the world of classification. He can isolate a fragment in order to create something unreal from a real event. Its main purpose is to convey a feeling, sensation or impression. It moves away from natural appearances and recognizable subjects in the real world.
