Kate Tooke is an award-winning representational oil painter focused on capturing an intimate connection with the animal subjects she paints. For Kate, a successful work goes beyond a technically competent depiction to create a relationship between the seer and the seen. Painting feels like communicating in a language of pure love that speaks on a soul level. What our eyes “read” as truth in a painting is different that what the logical mind tells us we are seeing. For me, painting goes beyond technical expertise and accurately depicting local colour and detail. Learning to express in paint the beauty of what we can experience in the moment feels like the most compelling way I could possibly imagine spending my time.

I have always felt a deep bond with nature and animals, an attachment that has shaped who I am today. With a mother who was an artist recognized both in Quebec and internationally, I grew up in a creative universe where art was an integral part of my life. This upbringing nurtured my passion and taught me to observe the world with sensitivity and care. I graduated from FACE (Fine Arts Core Education) in Montreal, a school dedicated to artistic development, then obtained a diploma in visual arts at Cégep du Vieux Montréal, where I explored various creative projects. My artistic journey naturally led me to wildlife art, inspired by the richness of flora and fauna. I pay particular attention to every detail of the fur, feathers, and unique shapes of each bird and mammal, seeking to capture their essence with precision and realism. I draw inspiration from my own photos taken on nature outings, or from those of photographers with whom I collaborate. Painting wildlife is much more than a technique; it's a way for me to stay in touch with this fascinating world and share with others the delicate beauty I perceive. Over the years, I've had the honor of receiving several awards and distinctions, including a memorable exhibition at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris and two gold medals at the Prix International des Professionnels de l’Art, awarded by Mondial Art Academia. My work are part of private and public collections, in Canada and internationally. Since 2017, I have dedicated myself full-time to my artistic practice in the suburbs of Montreal.

Cher Pruys, ASAA SCA, IGOR, AAPL, CSAA, AMS, LMS, OSA, MAA, CFA, NOAPS, PSOA, AWA., AAOA. I am a self taught artists working in water based medium, mainly acrylic, but also at times gouache and water-colour. I am a hyperrealism painter fascinated by the world around me. I am very drawn to shiny surfaces as well as transparent objects, especially when the lighting brings them to life. I look for beauty in everyday objects that most people take for granted or just don’t truly see them as they are. The seemingly boring and mundane subjects can truly be like magnets if portrayed in the right light. Shiny metal is one of those materials that can host endless visions….the light hits it and the reflections are captured on the smooth, sleek surface…people and animals especially the eyes...an artists dream! My future art plans are to paint the countless subjects I have chosen to become paintings and to share my art with as many people as I can. "To take my inner visions with my hands and create a work of art for you the viewer .... That is the ultimate in self expression."
