BEST OF SHOW

Katie Thomas - Pablo the Pitbull

acrylic - 11'' x 14''

My name is Katie Thomas and I am a UK-based artist specialising in pet and wildlife portraiture. I began painting at a young age where I gained a love for the acrylic medium, and have continued painting with them ever since. Stylistically, my paintings are detailed and realistic but do not compromise on bringing out the personality and expression of your pet/animal of choice.

Scott Bemman - Bald Eagle, Carpe Diem

Bird and nature photography has helped me realize that nature is my healer, my place of peace within myself. I have the attitude that I am a guest in the world of nature, and I understand that all things in nature are connected, and all are of equal importance. I appreciate the fact that birds & animals are only concerned about the simple task of survival. They live in the present, not the past or the future, not yesterday, not tomorrow, only now. Wherever they go, they are there. How I envy them!

That is the ultimate in self expression." It is profoundly rewarding to have the opportunity to explore the wonders of our world and then have the skill to render them on canvas in my own style.

I’m a disabled self taught award winning inspirational artist and illustrator. I began my art in 2015 at the age of 40 after a near death experience. I was born in Buenos Aires Argentina Italian immigrants. I was inspired to become an artist when I discovered child prodigy Akiane Kramarik. She has been one of my biggest inspirations that led me to discover my passion. I’m a walking miracle who has defeated death many times. I suffers from a genetic disorder called Elhers Danlos Syndrome kyphoscoliosis type. Due to this disease only discovered in 2015 my spine collapsed twice having to endure many life saving surgeries since the age of two to survive. I have two rods and twenty six screws holding my spine. This illness has brought me other complications such as severe learning disabilities and memory retention problems to name a few. I have found my passion for art late in life and I feels it's never too late to do what you are meant to do. My art is about all the things I find beautiful. I want people to feel peace and happiness when they see my work. I enjoy the style of photo realism with movement. I enjoy depicting people, children, pets, wildlife, landscapes, nature, still lives and botanicals. I enjoy working in many different mediums for my meeting with choice is pastels. I’m currently teaching myself how to paint, realistically in both oils in acrylics. My work has been accepted in over 180 local exhibits and international exhibits. I have received over 140 awards. My story has been published in numerous online publications and magazines. Being recognized motivates me to continue to share my miraculous story with the world and give other a renewed sense of hope.
